Hard-top for one of the fastest yachts in the world

Aldabra is the very first ISA Super Sportivo 100ft GTO from Palumbo Superyachts. For her, Opac has realized a futuristic transparent opening roof.

It is a super sports yacht with an infusion hull (fibreglass and carbon fibre) and a very lightweight carbon superstructure. A 30-metre-long silver arrow, it is considered one of the fastest yachts in this category on the market today, capable of reaching a top speed of 55 knots.

Its sleek lines, ultra-sporty propulsion (three turbodiesel engines each with 2000 hp) and refined interiors make it a truly unique product.

The hard-top's large openable glazed surfaces also ensure maximum comfort in the enclosed areas of the cockpit. Indeed, the glazed hard-top is Opac's major contribution to the Aldabra. At 5.6 metres wide and 1.8 metres long, this sunroof, which acts as an extension of the yacht's windscreen, has been designed and built entirely by Opac.

The hard-top performs a dual motion: when opening, it lifts up and then slides back, leaving a large section of the roof open. The opening can be adjusted as required and can also be operated while sailing. Once closed, the hard-top is perfectly sealed. The moving frame is made of carbon fibre to limit the overall weight of the structure.

Opac developed the design according to specifications provided by the shipyard and was responsible for both its actual construction and the final assembly on board.

Launched in May at the Palumbo Superyachts yard in Ancona, Aldabra had her world premiere in September during the Cannes Yachting Festival 2021. It was an immediate success with critics and the public alike.
